I do feel that Bush's was a failed administration on a variety of levels, but that is not the point of my blog. I'm wanting to look to the future, as much as possible.

Regarding torture, I believe we need to follow 3 important documents: Our Constitution, the Geneva Convention, and our own military code. In addition, it's been proven that torture is not effective, since false information is given.

Indeed, there is a balance found in America. We need many voices in the mix. Yes I know I used the word probable. Some may be terrorists set on destroying the Western World and some may not. But I am willing to live with that. The last thing I want to happen is a buildup of terrorist cells in the US, which we both know is a very probable thing, and if torturing a group (small or large) of suspected terrorists is going to possibly help us thwart attacks than I am all for it.

But that is why this country is great; there are people like me willing to do such things, and there are people like you who go against such things. In the end it balances out America as tough and as compassionate.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4658325139477661014.post-1732529639593637692009-06-21T11:33:40.833-04:002009-06-21T11:33:40.833-04:00Well, if I'm in the tank for Obama, you seem t...Well, if I'm in the tank for Obama, you seem to be in the deep end for Bush, Cheney and th Republicans. I think we may actually agree that the deregulation problems began under Clinton - and that there is a conflict of interest with members of his administration now working to fix this problem. Nonetheless, Obama did inherit this faltering economy from Bush, who hid his head in the sand when things got tough at the end of his administration.

I would hope that you hope for success in righting the economy. If not, that's a darn shame, since Americans are suffering.

I would also hope you would agree that Bush began the war in Iraq. You probably don't see that as a problem. I do. Patraeus and other military want us out of Iraq. They also want us out of Gitmo.

So, what's left? Oh, yeah, the Constitution. I believe we should follow it, as well as the Geneva Convention regarding torture. You clearly don't.

Honestly, my piece was fairly balanced regarding Obama's progress up to now. I've been flamed on other progressive sites for these balanced positions.

So, before you start calling me "lazy," you should perhaps take a look at the overall message, not the cherry-picked points that hurt your political ego.Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03765867035743628485noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4658325139477661014.post-86494389226091305772009-06-20T23:18:08.133-04:002009-06-20T23:18:08.133-04:00You are clearly biased against the Republican part...You are clearly biased against the Republican party and as a typical Obama supporter, you just blame all the problems on the Bush administration.

Try doing some research into the whole economic problem.

Start here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MGT_cSi7Rs&feature=related

And here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivmL-lXNy64

Maybe you should write a post about such issues and who is really to blame for the economic problem. It is blatantly biased and downright lazy to just place the blame on Bush.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
